【摘要】:4.1Thispracticeisapplicabletotheuseofacalorimeterforthemeasurementofabsorbeddoseinelectronbeams,thequalificationofelectronirradiationfacilities,periodicchecksofoperatingparametersofelectronirradiationfacilities,andcalibrationofotherdosimetersinelectronbeams.NOTE1-Foradditionalinformationoftheuseofdosimetryinelectronacceleratorfacilities,seeISO/ASTMPractices51431and51649,andICRUReports34and35,andRefs(1-3).44.2Thecalorimetersdescribedinthispracticearenotprimary-standarddosimeters.Theymaybeusedastransferstandarddosimetersorasinternalstandardsatanelectronbeamirradiationfacility,ormayberoutinedosimetersusedforroutinedosemeasurements.Thecalorimetersarecalibratedbycomparisonwithtransfer-standarddosimeters.4.3Thedosemeasurementisbasedonthemeasurementofthetemperatureriseinanabsorber(calorimetricbody)irradiatedbyanelectronbeam.Differentabsorbingmaterialsareused,buttheresponseisusuallydefinedintermsofdosetowater.4.4Theabsorbeddoseinothermaterialsirradiatedunderequivalentconditionsmaybecalculated.ProceduresformakingsuchcalculationsaregiveninASTMPracticesE666andE668,ISO/ASTMGuide51261,andRef(1).4.5Theaverageabsorbeddoseinthevolumeofthecalorimetricbodyismeasured.Dosegradientsmayoccurinthisvolumeandmayhavetobeconsideredwhenestimatingdoseinothermaterials.4.6Thecalorimetricbodiesofthecalorimetersdescribedinthispracticearemadefromlowatomicnumbermaterials.Theelectronfluenceswithinthesecalorimetricbodieswillbeapproximatelyequalwhenirradiatedwithelectronbeamsof1.5MeVorhigher.Calibrationintermsofdosetowaterispossibleforthesecalorimeters.4.6.1Calorimetersforuseatindustrialelectronacceleratorshavebeenconstructedusinggraphite,polystyreneoraPetridishfilledwithwaterasthecalorimetricbody(4-10).Thethicknessofthecalorimetricbodyshallbelessthantherangeoftheelectronsforthespecifiedmaterial.4.6.2Polymericmaterialsotherthanpolystyrenemaybeusedforcalorimetricmeasurements.Polystyreneisusedbecauseitisknowntoberesistanttoradiation(11)andbecausenoexo-orendothermicreactionstakeplace(12).1.1Thispracticecoversthepreparationanduseofsemi-adiabaticcalorimetersformeasurementofabsorbeddoseandroutinedosimetercalibrationwhenirradiatedwithelectronsforradiationprocessingapplications.Thecalorimetersareeithertransportedbyaconveyorpastascannedelectronbeamorarestationaryinabroadenedbeam.1.2Thispracticeappliestoelectronbeamsintheenergyrangefrom1.5to12MeV.1.3Theabsorbeddoserangedependsontheabsorbingmaterialandtheirradiationandmeasurementconditions.Minimumdoseisapproximately100Gyandmaximumdoseisapproximately50kGy.1.4Theaveragedabsorbed-doseraterangeshallgenerallybegreaterthan10Gys1.1.5Thetemperaturerangeforuseofthesecalorimetersdependsonthethermalresistanceofthematerials,onthecalibrationrangeofthetemperaturesensor,andonthesensitivityofthemeasurementdevice.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
